How to Descale an Electric Shower (UK)
Safely descale the tank, element and solenoid on Mira Sport, Triton T80 and Bristan Glee electric showers.

Signs of scale
Reduced flow, whistling on heating, cold spots in the spray, trip on start-up.
Descale procedure
Isolate power AND water. Remove handset. Fit a length of 15 mm pipe with a plug on the outlet. Pour 500 mL of 10 % citric acid solution back through the outlet. Leave 4 h. Flush with 5 min cold rinse.
Prevention
Fit a 15 mm scale reducer on the inlet — Fernox Total Filter TF1 Compact Scale, or Kinetico DK scale reducer. Lasts 3–5 years in medium-hard water areas.
