How to Replace the Shroud Kit on a Gainsborough GSi 10.5 electric (UK)

UK guide to swapping the shroud kit in a Gainsborough GSi 10.5 electric shower valve. TMV2 compliance, part numbers, tools.

Gainsborough

The part

Replace the concealing plate and shroud on the Gainsborough GSi 10.5 electric where limescale has locked the temperature handle.

Isolate

Undo the two handle grub screws (2.5 mm hex on most Gainsborough models). Lift the shroud off — do not lever, it cracks.

Swap the shroud kit

Fit new O-rings between the wall plate and shroud to keep the IP54 rating.

Commission

Balance hot and cold to within 0.5 bar. Run the Gainsborough GSi 10.5 electric at max flow for 3 minutes.

Verify max outlet temperature stays below 46 °C per BS EN 1111 by shutting off cold and reading the outlet.

Frequently asked questions

Chrome or brushed?
The Gainsborough GSi 10.5 electric kit ships in polished chrome as standard. Brushed finishes carry a -BR suffix.
Wall plate offset?
10–35 mm adjustment on Gainsborough concealed valves — use the shroud packer to hide any tile mismatch.
OEM or aftermarket for Gainsborough?
For TMV2/TMV3 compliance always fit genuine Gainsborough cartridges. Aftermarket voids the GSi 10.5 electric approval.
