How to Replace a Towel Rail Element (UK)
Fit or replace a 300 W, 600 W or 1000 W electric element in a dual-fuel or electric-only towel rail.

Sizing
- 300 W — 400×800 mm small towel rail.
- 600 W — 500×1200 mm medium.
- 1000 W — 600×1800 mm large ladder.
Fit
Drain rad to below element boss. 1/2" BSP element into T-piece boss. Wire to fused spur (must be in Zone 3 or outside a bathroom zone). Fibre washer, no PTFE on the element seal.

- No — the element seal is a fibre washer. PTFE cracks under thermal cycling.
